Richardson ISD's Audelia Creek Elementary hosted U.S. Secretary of Education Margaret Spellings as she presented The University of Texas System with a $1.4 million dollar Teacher Incentive Fund grant.
The UT System administers the grant, a portion of which will fund RISD's Teacher Advancement Program for five additional years at three targeted campuses.
RISD's TAP Program, the first of its kind in Texas, supplements teacher and campus administrator base compensation levels with bonuses based on student, teacher and campus performance.
The program, which began district implementation in 2005-06, has produced positive results at Thurgood Marshall Elementary, Forest Meadow Junior High, and Audelia Creek.
