Hello RISD families,
The Dallas County Health & Human Services Department
has confirmed this afternoon that a Canyon Creek Elementary
student has contracted swine flu. Two other students at
the school are also suspected of contracting this flu. At
this point, none of the cases are considered serious.
In order to limit the transmission of this new strain of
flu, Canyon Creek Elementary will be closed beginning tomorrow
(April 28) through Friday (May 1) for the protection of
our students and staff. Additional information will be provided
no later than Friday, May 1, about additional days for closure.
RISD officials are working closely with Dallas County Health
officials to monitor any illnesses that are reported in
our schools.
RISD is asking parents to keep children at home that are
not feeling well, and if symptoms are flu-like in nature
(fever, achiness, coughing, diarrhea or sore throat) to
see their physician immediately for a flu test and report
the findings to the district at 469-593-0300.
