Safety of our students and staff is a priority if bad weather is predicted. Several RISD departments (transportation, facilities, grounds) stand ready to assess the condition of the roads and school facilities should ice and/or snow make travel to or from RISD schools hazardous. Based on their assessment of the road conditions and consultation with surrounding districts, RISD’s Superintendent will determine if schools in Richardson ISD will be delayed or closed for the safety of students and staff.

If schools are delayed or closed due to inclement weather:

• An announcement will be posted on the District’s website, www.risd.org, by 6:00 a.m. or as soon as the decision has been made.
  
  
• An announcement will be recorded on RISD’s weather line 469-593-SNOW (7669).
  
  
• A “Special Alert” email will be sent to subscribers of School Times Now notifying them of the decision.
  
  
• Parents and staff will be notified by phone through Connect-ED, our mass notification telephone message system at 6:00 a.m.
  
  
• In addition, local radio or television stations will be notified about RISD schools delay or closing due to weather.
