RISD Child Nutrition Receives Award
The RISD Child Nutrition Department received the District of Excellence in Child Nutrition Award from The School Nutrition Association.

This prestigious award recognizes school districts that score 80 percent or higher on SNA’s Keys to Excellence, in covering nutrition and nutrition education, administration, communications and marketing, and operations. The Keys to Excellence provide a standard way for school districts to compare their program to the industry’s model of practice while helping meet their goals to serve healthy, delicious food in a cost-effective way.

Mission:  The Child Nutrition staff is dedicated to serving nutritious, attractive, fresh food to every customer in a cheerful, cost effective and sanitary environment.

Our goals are to provide those meals in a manner that:

  • Creates an atmosphere of service and care for every student.
  • Makes Child Nutrition an integral component of the educational process.
  • Makes Child Nutrition a visible extension of the classroom and a laboratory for nutritional education.
  • Gives the parents and students the best nutritional value for their money.
  • Fiscally benefits the patrons and taxpayers of RISD while operating on a sound financial basis for the District.
