Teacher Substitute Information l Paraprofessional Substitute l Application

Thank you for your interest in substituting with RISD. Please read the following information to learn how you can possibly be a substitute.

Simple Steps to Substituting

1. Fill out an application.
2. Take your completed application to the Human Resources Support Services office located at 400 South Greenville Avenue, Richardson, TX.
3. When you visit the Human Resources office, there will be other documents for you to complete.
4. The RISD will run a background check.
5. Applicants for substitute teaching will be scheduled for an interview.
6. Applicants will be notified if accepted to substitute teach.
7. Substitute teachers will attend a training and orientation session.
8. You may begin substituting with RISD!

Teacher Substitute Information

Requirements: To be a teacher substitute, must have a college degree.

What to Bring When You Apply For Substitute Teaching

• Social Security Card
• A college transcript with degree posted on it (bachelor's, master's, or doctorate)
• Proof of your legal eligibility to work in the United States (When you return your application, you can refer to the list of documents required on the I-9 form)
• If you have it, a Texas Teacher's Certificate with TeCAT - EXCET
• Substitute teaching application

Paraprofessional Substitutes

• Social Security Car
• Proof of your legal eligibility to work in the United States (When you return your application, you can refer to the list of documents required on the I-9 form)
• High School Diploma or equivalent or college transcript
• Substitute teaching application

A background check is done on all applicants and substitutes each year.

Substitute Application

Download the substitute application and bring it with you to the Administrative building. When you arrive, there will be other forms to fill out. Please do not mail your application.
